This church's history began in 1854, when eleven charter members gathered in a private home west of Lone Oak to organize a Methodist congregation. Occasionally served by circuit riding ministers, the members built a church in 1871 that they shared with the local Masonic Lodge. Continued growth and the loss of the first building in an 1884 fire led to the construction of this vernacular gothic revival structure in 1889, featuring twin bracketed towers and lancet windows, and it continues to serve the congregation.
