Joseph Greer, son of Andrew Greer, an early member of the Watauga Settlement in East Tennessee, is buried about four miles northeast. After fighting at King's Mountain, he made a rapid overland trip to Philadelphia, where he officially reported the American victory to the Continental Congress.
