In Frisco, Texas, the Museum of the American Railroad preserves one of the nation’s largest historic rail collections across fifteen acres, with more than seventy locomotives, cars, cabooses, and railroad structures. Founded in nineteen sixty-three at Fair Park and established as a museum in nineteen eighty-six, it later moved to Frisco as part of a long-term expansion and reorganization effort. Its collection spans giant steam engines, diesel locomotives, passenger cars, freight equipment, and supporting railroad artifacts, with several pieces still operational. Together with TrainTopia, a large indoor model railroad exhibit, it serves as a major North Texas center for understanding American railroad history and operations.
