George C. Hupp, a sergeant in K Company, 8th Illinois Cavalry, was wounded at Brandy Station Battlefield on June 9, 1863. His great-great-great grandson William J. Hupp of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, made a leadership contribution to the preservation and restoration of this crucial portion of Fleetwood Hill so future generations could visit this hallowed ground and better understand the experience of the brave cavalry troopers who fought here.
