The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.), Vacaville Lodge No. 83, rebuilt this structure with brick and cast-iron columns in 1889 after the previous two buildings burned in 1877 and 1884. An earthquake in 1892 seriously damaged the front of the building. Stores on the lower level continue to be rented to maintain the meeting hall above. The I.O.O.F. is a benevolent fraternal organization dedicated to the betterment of the community, and Vacaville Lodge No. 83, chartered in 1859, is one of Vacaville's oldest fraternal organizations.
