From 1904 until the 1950’s, the Southern Pacific Railroad Station at Oceano was the center of most commercial and transportation activity in South San Luis Obispo County. It was retired from service in 1975. It was later moved 400 yards north of its original site and is being restored by volunteer efforts for a new role as a museum and community center.
