Sheyenne Lake National Wildlife Refuge
Nature
Sheyenne Lake National Wildlife Refuge is an eight hundred-acre protected area in North Dakota’s Sheridan County. Unlike refuges owned directly by the federal government, it is an easement refuge on privately owned land, where landowners and the U.S. government cooperate to conserve the area’s natural resources. Its management reflects a partnership approach to protection, balancing private ownership with conservation goals. The refuge is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from offices at Audubon National Wildlife Refuge.
