THE STORY

James Veitch, born in 1628 in Roxburghshire, Scotland, settled at Veitch’s Cove, later known as Veitch’s Rest, on an original land patent granted by Lord Baltimore in 1649. He served as sheriff of Calvert County from 1653 to 1657 and died in 1685.
