Jamie Dailey, born in Corbin, Kentucky, on June 9, 1975, returned almost immediately with his parents to their home in Gainesboro, where he began singing with his father at age 3, played bass in his father's regional bluegrass and gospel group at age 9, learned banjo by 12, and three years later joined the local Cumberland Plateau bluegrass band the Cumberland Connection. In 1996, while living in Celina, Tennessee, he formed Highland Rim, then joined Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, where he played guitar and sang lead, baritone, and tenor as the group won the International Bluegrass Music Association award for Vocal Group of the Year for seven straight years from 2001 through 2007. He met Darrin Vincent at the 2001 IBMA awards show in Louisville, Kentucky, and after discovering how well their voices blended, they eventually recorded a duet for Christmas Grass Volume 2, decided to form a duet, gave one-year notices in January 2007 to Doyle Lawson and Ricky Skaggs, and gave their first show together at the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium on Dec. 29, 2007. Their debut album, Dailey & Vincent, was released in January 2008, and at the 2008 IBMA awards they won Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, and Emerging Artist of the Year, while Dailey also won Male Vocalist of the Year, the album was named Album of the Year, and its song “By the Mark” won Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year. Dailey and Vincent have continued to record and tour widely in the United States and overseas, Dailey also traveled on cultural missions with United States Ambassador Faith Ryan Whittlesey, and the duo later launched the first season of “The Dailey and Vincent Show” on RFD-TV on Sept. 5, 2015, before being inducted as members of the Grand Ole Opry in March 2017.
