Scantic River State Park is a Connecticut state park formed from several separate parcels along the Scantic River in Enfield, East Windsor, and Somers. Managed for hiking, fishing, and hunting, it reflects a long, incomplete effort to preserve the river corridor. The park was planned in 1967, approved in 1968, and saw its first state land purchases only after a 1989 master plan. The state originally intended to assemble 2,215 acres, but by 2024 had acquired 784 acres. Its fragmented layout shapes access and use, with hunting allowed in three designated parcels in Hazardville, near the Enfield-Somers line, and in East Windsor.
