Julius Joseph, a clothing store and furniture company owner, was honored with a fountain that emphasizes the spirit of play associated with youth. George Honig said its purpose was to benefit children by appealing to them, stimulating their imagination, and encouraging better and bigger ideals for their future life. The three children at the top reflect Joseph’s interests: one with a ball and bat symbolizes games, one with flowers represents outdoor life, and a Boy Scout holding a fish embodies hunting and fishing. The water running through the fountain was meant to express the youth of life.
