The Mediterranean design of the Green Man, the God of Fertility, was incorporated into a retaining wall and fountain, with Malibu Potteries responsible for the craftsmanship of the tile and Green Man sculpture. The building at the top of the stairs was built in 1938 as a retreat for the Adamsons' son, Merritt, Jr. At the rear of the building is a mural depicting the ocean scene that would be visible from that spot if the building were not there.
