Stunt Ranch Santa Monica Mountains Reserve is a protected biological field station in Calabasas within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and the University of California Natural Reserve System. Centered on perennial Cold Creek, an unusual north-to-south stream in these mountains, it preserves riparian woodland, chaparral, and wildlife including mountain lions and bobcats while supporting research on the ecosystem. The area also preserves a long human history, with evidence of occupation going back at least 10,000 years and later use by Gabrielino and Chumash people. After the Stunt family settled the watershed, the ranch became a field station and then a university reserve, while continuing to host educational programs for Los Angeles schoolchildren.
