The Walk of Honor pays tribute to the dedication and service of first responders who selflessly risk their lives to save the lives of others. Michael Scott Carlo was an FDNY firefighter who died in the line of duty at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. His mother, Mrs. Phyllis Carlo of Wanamie, collaborated with State Representative John Yudichak to establish the Firefighter Michael Carlo Memorial Fund with monies received from the New York Stock Exchange Fallen Heroes Fund, and Michael's Fund helped construct the Walk of Honor. A time capsule was established at the dedication of the Regional Public Safety Training Center on April 25, 2008, to be opened during the one hundredth anniversary of the college. Those who made the ultimate sacrifice are honored here.
