D River State Recreation Site in central Lincoln City is a public beach park on the Oregon coast where the Pacific meets the 120-foot D River, noted as one of the world’s shortest rivers. It provides access to Wecoma Beach and Lincoln City’s shoreline, with facilities for day use, fishing, and beachgoing. The river’s meeting with the ocean creates year-round surfing conditions suited to intermediate surfers, and the broad sandy beach has become a major center for kite flying, hosting large seasonal festivals. The area is also known for whale watching during gray whale migration and for winter seabird viewing, especially gulls.
