Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park in Uxbridge, Massachusetts preserves a key landscape in the early industrial development of the United States at the midpoint of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. Centered on the forty-five-mile Blackstone Canal, completed in 1828 to connect Worcester with Providence, it reflects a brief era when canal boats linked inland mills to port markets before railroads displaced canal freight by 1847. Surviving features such as a granite lock at Goat Hill and old towpaths trace that transition from wagon traffic to canals to railroads. Today the park also offers recreation, valley history, and views of the river, mill sites, and the surrounding landscape.
