Taylorsville Lake State Park is a Kentucky recreation area in Spencer County, with Taylorsville Lake extending into Anderson and Nelson counties. The nearby town of Taylorsville was named for Richard Taylor, father of President Zachary Taylor, who donated land for its founding. The lake was created when the United States Army Corps of Engineers dammed the Salt River, opening the project to the public in January 1983. The reservoir spans 3,050 acres with 75 miles of shoreline. Fishing, especially for bluegill, bass, and crappie, is the park’s chief attraction, and the park also offers a multi-use trail system and camping added in 1998.
