Second Lieutenant John W. Bowen, Jr., born July 14, 1922, was killed in action on April 14, 1944; Flight Officer George D. Collins, born November 11, 1922, was killed in action on July 10, 1943; and Second Lieutenant Spencer L. Shaw, born September 8, 1921, was killed in action on February 20, 1945. These three classmates died in aerial combat over Europe in World War II, and they are honored along with all those who served or contributed in any manner whatsoever to the defeat of the Axis in that conflict.
