Land in the Parish of Lafourche, Louisiana, in the Malagale Settlement was purchased from the State of Louisiana on June 28, 1860, for the Schaubhut family cemetery, which was recorded on January 26, 1882. Bartlin Schaubhut Sr., born in Baden, Germany, on June 11, 1806, died on December 1, 1869. Bartlin Schaubhut Jr., born in Baden, Germany, about 1828, died on January 2, 1889, and arrived at the Port of New Orleans aboard the ship Bolivar on Wednesday, November 11, 1835. Father and son were buried in this cemetery in the 2nd Ward, now 6th, of the Parish of Lafourche, Louisiana.
