In the fall of 1992, a sugar pine (Pinus lambertiana) at the Dinkney Creek Campground in the Sierra National Forest was cut after several years of drought stressed the tree and it died following infection by the disease blister rust. After it was cut, its wood was salvaged and produced 35,000 board feet of lumber. The tree was approximately 350 years old, stood 250 feet high, and had a diameter of 95 inches; this round has a diameter of 59 inches and was cut 30 feet from the base of the tree.
