Lloyd Edward "Shad" Heller spent more than 25 years at the City's forge and anvil. He created memories for millions through his wit, humor, and all-around character. In addition to serving as the City's resident blacksmith and first mayor, he was known for directing and acting in the Shepherd of the Hills outdoor pageant and the Corncrib Theater Toby Show. He also had a leading role in five Beverly Hillbillies episodes filmed in the City's streets. The structure is a replica of the house that Shad and Molly Heller made their home, located just a few feet from that spot, and its chimney has been reconstructed from the original rock work. Shad Heller was remembered as a role model for the City's citizens in creating memories worth repeating in a manner consistent with Christian values and ethics.
