Captain Joseph Gregg, a Civil War soldier buried in Historic Newfield Village Cemetery, enlisted in the 137th New York Volunteers in 1862, fought with his unit at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863, was wounded on July 2nd, and died on July 3rd.
