The Boydton LOVEwork was created for the 40th Annual Boydton Day Festival in 2016 by the Boydton Day Committee and was designed by Brooks Lenhart with assistance from Shirley Bowen, Michelle Gregory Gordon, and Donna Ober. Will Ober combined the design elements into the one-of-a-kind work. The L used driftwood collected from Buggs Island Lake (Kerr Lake) donated by Sweet Virginia Barn Cats and Holly Burnette, and red clay bricks from the ruins of the original Randolph-Macon College donated by Walter Beales; it was constructed by Will Ober. The O used the town seal from Boydton Town Hall, designed by Mrs. Ruth Crowder, and horseshoes donated by Gene Kennedy; it was constructed by Signs and Designs and Justin Eubank. The V used antique wooden Cypress Garden water skis donated by Charlie and Ann Lee Reamy; it was constructed by Will Ober. The E used photographs from Boydton Town Hall, The Hon. Nora J. Miller, Marilyn Gregory, Bob and Jenny Salzmann, and the Boydton Volunteer Fire Department; it was designed by Brooks Lenhart and constructed by Signs and Designs and Justin Eubank.
