The Kyler Homestead stood along the 1796 State Road that followed the Indian Path, where Conrad Kyler settled in 1803. Abe Kyler occupied the log house about 1820 until he sold it to Ed Perks. The adjacent Kyler burial ground, later known as Perks Cemetery, contains the oldest marked graves in the county, those of Catherine Pearce in 1804 and her brother Conrad in 1808.
