The Cascade Theater opened on August 9, 1935, under T and D Jr. Enterprises, with architect J. Lloyd Conrich of San Francisco, California, and general contractor Sath Brothers of San Francisco, California. It reopened on August 14, 2002, under Southern Oregon University and the JPR Foundation, with architect James Theimer, AIA, of Trilogy Architecture in Redding, California; historic preservation direction by George Kramer, MS, of Ashland, Oregon; and general contracting by A.D. Wagner Contracting and Gifford Construction of Redding, California. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the California Register of Historical Resources and received an Art Deco Society of California Preservation Award.
