John Swadden Sanders and his brothers Joseph, Joshua, and Samuel were among the earliest settlers of the Forks region between the Nolin and Green Rivers. The Sanders family first came to Kentucky in 1779. John later settled in present-day Edmonson County around 1804 and was buried at Buzzard Roost. Samuel served Edmonson County as sheriff, magistrate, and justice of the peace.
