Olson Mountain, also called Mount Olson, is a 7,913-foot peak in Glacier National Park’s Livingston Range in northern Montana, overlooking the western shore of Waterton Lake and rising more than 3,700 feet above the water. Named for a surveyor on the International Boundary Survey, its name was officially adopted in 1929. Water from its slopes flows through Olson Creek into Waterton Lake. The mountain is composed of sedimentary rock deposited from the Precambrian through Jurassic periods and later uplifted by the Lewis Overthrust, when older rock was pushed over younger Cretaceous layers. It stands in a subarctic climate with long, bitterly cold winters and short summers.
