The Rochester Rock Art Panel in Emery County, Utah, about 3 miles east of Emery, contains a dense concentration of petroglyphs pecked into sandstone, where dark desert varnish contrasts with the lighter carved rock. The images come from different periods and traditions: some are prehistoric and linked to the Fremont culture or Barrier Canyon Style, while others, including horse figures, seem much more recent and probably modern. The site also bears clear damage from later human activity, including substantial graffiti and signs that carved sections were likely removed by collectors. It is valued both for its varied rock art and for illustrating the vulnerability of such places.
