Bing Kong Tong Society Building
History
2
This building dates from 1927, when it was rebuilt after a fire in 1926. Its upper floor served the Chinese population as a center for religious and social activities. The Toy family, after moving here from Truckee in the 1880’s, operated a store two doors west called The Quong Wo Sing Co. and supplied food and goods to the community and labor camps in the area. The building was later acquired by the Brannan Andrus Historical Society, which planned to restore it.
