Canyon Falls is a three-tiered, roughly 40-foot waterfall on Washington’s South Fork Skykomish River, positioned between Eagle Falls and Sunset Falls. Its first drop is a powerful 20-foot plunge where a seemingly calm river suddenly turns violent, followed by two more turbulent cascades before the water calms again below. That deceptive calm has made the falls especially dangerous, contributing to numerous serious accidents and deaths involving people on inner tubes or rafts. The site also became known for a 1994 murder case and for ongoing disputes over access, as surrounding private landowners have posted the area against trespassing.
