On March 25, 1913, at the Fries Homestead in Whitewater Valley, floodwaters claimed the lives of Mrs. Margaret Fries, her daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Seiwert, her granddaughter Hedwig Seiwert, her son John A. Fries, his wife Adelaide, and their three children, John, Paul, and Mary.
