Started in the 1840s and still used by founding families, this cemetery contains the graves of Texas patriots including Francisco Antonio Ruiz, the acting mayor in 1836, whose father and cousin signed the Declaration of Independence, and Blas Herrera, who alerted the Alamo defenders to Santa Anna's approach.
