Nature
Western Kentucky Botanical Garden in Owensboro, Kentucky, was created in 1993 by a Daviess County Master Gardener class after Dr. and Mrs. William Tyler donated about 8.5 acres to the city, with another acre later added for a separate entrance. The garden developed into a horticultural and educational site organized around themed areas, including a notable daylily collection recognized by the American Hemerocallis Society, along with herb, rose, English cottage, Japanese memorial, and children’s gardens. Ponds, public art, teaching plots, and a mix of relocated, historic, and functional buildings give it the character of both a public garden and a community project.
