International Bluegrass Music Museum

Arts & Culture
Owensboro, Kentucky’s bluegrass museum preserves and presents the music as both a regional tradition and an international art form. Incorporated in 1991 and operating year-round since 1995, it expanded in 2002 and moved in 2018 into a 64,000-square-foot downtown facility on the Ohio River. Across three floors, interactive exhibits, posters, costumes, instrument demonstrations, and the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Hall of Fame connect bluegrass history with live performance. Concerts, outdoor shows, regular jam sessions, and the annual ROMP festival keep music central to its work, while student programs, oral histories, and school initiatives help sustain and pass on bluegrass traditions.
