In 1738, Caspar Wistar of Philadelphia gave 100 acres of land for church and school purposes, and Trinity Reformed Church annually pays one red rose to his heirs. The congregation was formed by Reformed families among the Tulpehocken settlers, and the first communion service was conducted by Reverend John Philip Boehm on October 18, 1727.
