Loreauville, Louisiana, honored local people who served in the armed forces of the United States across World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam Era, Desert Storm, and after September 11, 2001. Named from World War I were Oliver Courville, Charles Wallet, and Richard Windybank. Named from World War II were Joseph A. Crochet, Richard Fontenette, Warren Granger, Earl LeCamus, Beraud Mestayer, Oswald P. Ransonet, and Joseph Eddie Terradot. In 1948, a shrine of Our Lady of La Salette was erected in grateful remembrance of these and all others who served. The community also expressed loving memory for Wade Chataigner of the Korean Conflict and Joseph Anthony, Thomas Eldridge, and Robert M. Shuptrine of the Vietnam Era, honored the heroes and victims of September 11, 2001, celebrated the enduring spirit of America, and gave thanks to all its men and women who served in Desert Storm for the sake of freedom in the world.
