Patricia H. Birdsall, known as Pat, devoted countless hours of volunteer service to Temecula and the Temecula Valley. Before the city's incorporation in 1989, she served for many years as a board member and treasurer of the Temecula Town Association. As a bookkeeper, she volunteered as Funds Control Chairman for numerous community fundraising events, including the Great Temecula Tractor Race, the Annual Pumpkin Run, the Temecula Rod Run, the Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival, and the PRCA Rodeo. Elected to the first Temecula City Council in December 1989, she served for five years, was reappointed in July 1995, and served until November 1997. She was Temecula's mayor in 1992 and 1997, served on the League of California Cities Community Services Committee and several National League of Cities committees, and represented Temecula before two U.S. Congressional Committees. She is remembered as a gifted leader whose legacy was a deep love for her city and its residents.
