Pinnacle Peak is a 3,169-foot granite summit in Scottsdale, Arizona, within a 150-acre city park in the Sonoran Desert. People have used the surrounding land for centuries, from Hohokam hunting and food gathering to later ranching and mining before the area was annexed into Scottsdale and established as a park in the 1980s. Part of the land was sold in 1994 to fund construction of the main trail, leading to a six-year closure before the park reopened on April 20, 2002. Today, the area is known for hiking, technical climbing routes to the summit, and desert habitat supporting diverse wildlife.
