Wiesendanger Falls is a 50-foot waterfall in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge, upstream of Multnomah Falls on the Multnomah-Wahkeena Loop Hike. Also known as Double Falls and Twanklaskie Falls, it was named for Albert Wiesendanger, an important U.S. Forest Service worker during the first half of the 20th century. The falls are notable both as part of the gorge’s network of scenic cascades and for the variation in the spelling of Wiesendanger’s name, which appears with the “i” before the “e” in one commemorative trail plaque, while some other sources reverse the vowels.
