Multnomah Creek is a five-mile stream in northern Oregon that rises on Larch Mountain in Mount Hood National Forest, flows over Multnomah Falls, passes through Benson Lake, and enters the Columbia River. The creek appears to be named for the Multnomah people. Its best-known feature, Multnomah Falls, is a two-tier cascade totaling 620 feet, the tallest waterfall in Oregon, with a 542-foot upper drop and a 69-foot lower drop. Reached from the Historic Columbia River Highway and Interstate 84, the falls and surrounding hike offer broad views and form one of the Columbia Gorge’s most recognizable natural landscapes.
