Nature
Burton Island State Park occupies all two hundred fifty-three acres of Burton Island in Lake Champlain, off Saint Albans Point in northwestern Vermont near the Canadian border. Part of Vermont’s state park system, it is reached only by boat, with the Island Runner ferry connecting it to the mainland from nearby Kamp Kill Kare State Park. The park serves both campers and boaters, offering tent and lean-to sites, moorings, and a large marina with modern services. Its three miles of shoreline, swimming and picnic areas, hiking trails, boat rentals, and nature center give it the character of an island retreat while supporting a busy public campground and marina.
