First Oil Pipeline
Industry
2
Constructed in the fall of 1865, this pipeline followed a straight course about 5 miles in length and transported oil by pumps from Pithole to a railhead at Miller Farm, revolutionizing the transportation of petroleum. It was dug up when Pithole wells were pumped dry, and the trench is visible here and at points along the course of the old pipeline.
