North Bass Trail is a difficult roughly 14-mile route on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Beginning at Swamp Point about 7,500 feet above sea level, it reaches an especially isolated part of the canyon backcountry. Its challenge comes from both length and elevation change, and although heavy erosion once made route-finding difficult, a major volunteer reconstruction in 2005 restored much of the original trailbed and improved travel. No services are available along the route. Water can be found at Shinumo Creek and the Colorado River but must be treated. The trail also preserves the legacy of a former river crossing once connected by tramway to South Bass Trail.
