Chinese Rock Wall
History
3
The close proximity of the gold mines and railroad construction contributed to Marysville’s large Chinese population in the mid to late 1880’s. When those activities diminished, Chinese residents worked in various occupations, many as laborers building rock walls throughout Northern California. This section of rock wall was relocated from Sutter Buttes as a tribute to the Chinese who settled in Marysville’s Historic Chinatown.
