Vanishing Falls is a waterfall on the Salmon River at the southern edge of Oregon’s Mount Hood National Forest near Welches. It lies within an unusually dense concentration of waterfalls, with several other cascades located within one to two miles. Reached from a trailhead near U.S. Route 26 in Welches, it is found upstream along the Salmon River Trail after Frustration Falls and before Final Falls. The trail extends about seven miles and requires skill, passing through forest dominated by Douglas fir, western hemlock, red cedar, and patches of bigleaf maple, red alder, and black cottonwood.
