Atlanta Ranger Station, also known as the Atlanta Guard Station, is a historic Forest Service complex in the community of Atlanta in Idaho’s Boise National Forest. Developed beginning in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps from U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service designs, it became a planned administrative outpost of the New Deal era in a remote western forest. The twenty-four-acre site includes ten contributing buildings that reflect Forest Service R-4 Standard plans and other agency building types. Its Ranger’s Dwelling was built in 1933, destroyed by fire in 1936, replaced in 1937, and modified in 1941. The complex endures as a preserved example of early Forest Service administration and C.C.C. construction in Idaho.
