At the intersection of the Lincoln and Dixie Highways, Abraham Lincoln's bicentennial was honored alongside the men who inspired the nation to create a coast-to-coast highway from New York to San Francisco. Carl Fisher, regarded as the Father of the Lincoln Highway, provided the vision for creating both the Lincoln Highway and the Dixie Highway. Henry Joy supported the effort to build the Lincoln Highway and to designate it in honor of Abraham Lincoln.
