Coleman Corners is tied to the vision of Luella “Granny” Coleman and to Ralf Meshack Coleman, known as the “Dean of Boston's Black Theatre” and the first Black director of the WPA Federal Theater Project from 1935 to 1939. It is associated with African American heritage on Martha's Vineyard and with the guiding belief, “Only you can stop you from achieving your goals.”
