Blair Mountain is the highest summit of the White River Plateau in the Rocky Mountains, rising 11,465 feet in White River National Forest north of Glenwood Springs in western Colorado. Once known as Old Baldy, and earlier as Bald, Bald Mountain, and Baldy, it received its present name in 1928. The mountain was renamed for James Allison Blair, a White River Forest supervisor who died that year at age 52 and was highly regarded by his superiors for his service. A weather station at nearby Bison Lake records conditions near the peak, which remains a prominent landmark in the national forest.
