Madison County honors those from the county who served the nation in wartime and especially those who gave their lives, naming the dead from the Mexican-American War, Civil War, Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Global War on Terrorism, while also recognizing service in World War I from April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918, World War II from December 7, 1941, to December 31, 1946, the Korean War from June 27, 1950, to January 31, 1955, and the Vietnam Period from August 5, 1964, to May 7, 1975.
